03 - 1 clove garlic, minced
04 - 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
05 - 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
06 - 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

10 - 1 ripe avocado, peeled, pitted, and sliced
11 - 4 leaves romaine or butter lettuce
12 - 4 tomato slices
13 - 1/4 small red onion, thinly sliced
14 - 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)
15 - 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)

# Steps:

01 - In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped red onion, minced garlic, parsley, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
02 - Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4-inch thick.

04 - While the patties cook, toast the burger buns until lightly golden.
05 - Spread mayonnaise on the bottom buns if using. Layer with lettuce, turkey patty, tomato slice, red onion, and avocado slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
06 - Serve immediately while warm.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The combination of smoked paprika and Dijon creates this incredible depth that makes you forget you're eating turkey
  • Everything comes together in under 30 minutes but tastes like you put way more thought into it
02 -
  • Turkey burgers need to rest for about 3 minutes after cooking so the juices redistribute instead of running all over your plate
  • A meat thermometer is worth the investment because turkey turns from perfect to dry in a matter of seconds
03 -
  • Let your patties come to room temperature before cooking for even browning
  • Don't press down on the burgers with your spatula or you'll lose all those precious juices
