Adorable bite-sized grilled cheese sandwiches in heart shapes, ideal for parties, snacks, or lunchboxes.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Bread

01 - 6 slices soft white or whole wheat sandwich bread

→ Cheese

02 - 6 slices cheddar, American, or melting cheese

→ Butter

03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# Steps:

01 - Using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out two hearts from each bread slice to make 12 bread hearts total. Repeat with cheese slices to create 12 cheese hearts.
02 - Place one cheese heart between two bread hearts to form each mini sandwich.
03 - Spread a thin layer of softened butter on the outside of each assembled sandwich.
04 - Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Place sandwiches buttered side down and cook for 2–3 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side for another 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is crisp.
05 - Serve warm immediately.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • They transform the simplest sandwich into something that makes people smile before they even take a bite
  • The hearts create more crispy edges which is secretly the best part of any grilled cheese
02 -
  • A warm skillet works better than high heat which burns the bread before the cheese melts
  • The bread scraps from cutting can be toasted and turned into instant croutons so nothing goes to waste
03 -
  • If your cheese hangs over the bread edge trim it or it will burn and make your smoke alarm sad
  • A fish spatula is thinner and gentler than regular ones for flipping these delicate little hearts
