# What You’ll Need:

→ Onion Ring Coating

01 - 2 large yellow onions, sliced into 1/2-inch rings
02 - 1 cup all-purpose flour
03 - 2 large eggs, beaten
04 - 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
05 - 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
06 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - Salt and black pepper to taste

→ Cheeseburger Filling

08 - 1/2 lb ground beef
09 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
10 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
11 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
12 - 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
13 - 1/4 cup diced pickles
14 - 1/4 cup diced tomatoes
15 - 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
16 - 2 tablespoons ketchup
17 - 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

→ Frying

18 - Vegetable oil for deep frying

# Steps:

01 - Peel onions and slice into thick 1/2-inch rings. Carefully separate into individual rings, selecting the largest intact rings for stuffing. Set aside.
02 - Arrange three shallow bowls: place flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and combine panko breadcrumbs, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in the third bowl.
03 - Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook, breaking up meat, until browned throughout, approximately 5–7 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
04 - Stir diced pickles, tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese, ketchup, and mustard into the cooled beef mixture until evenly combined.
05 - Fill each large onion ring with the cheeseburger mixture, pressing gently to create a compact filling that holds its shape within the ring.
06 - Dredge each stuffed ring in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into beaten eggs, then press firmly into seasoned panko mixture to coat completely and evenly.
07 - Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F. Fry stuffed rings in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
08 - Serve immediately while hot and crispy, accompanied by your preferred burger sauce or dipping condiment.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Everything you love about a cheeseburger gets wrapped in a crispy onion ring package
  • The perfect party appetizer that makes people ask for the recipe immediately
  • That magical moment when the crunch gives way to juicy burger filling
02 -
  • Let the beef cool before stuffing the rings or the heat will make the onion wilt prematurely
  • Do not overcrowd the fryer or the oil temperature will drop and you will end up with soggy rolls
  • The largest onion rings work best because smaller ones cannot hold enough filling
03 -
  • Double the coating mixture because you will need more than you expect for thorough coverage
  • Pat the onion rings dry before coating to help the flour adhere properly
